The Groza UL tarp is unrivalled in the full-size tarp category, weighing just 540 g - about 60% lighter than standard camping tarps. Groza creates a light, sturdy and easy-to-use shelter with enough room for 2-3 travellers. The tarp can be pitched in seconds in several ways, giving you cover from sun and rain, an ultralight tent, a windbreak or even a tipi-style shelter. Thanks to its muted colours, Groza blends easily into the forest, so your camp stays inconspicuous. The 3 x 3 m size of GROZA gives enough space to camp, rest and sleep, even for several people. Under the tarp you can shelter from the weather, repack your backpack, prepare food and sleep peacefully. With a 9 m² area, a standard hammock fits easily underneath and stays protected from rain at night.

Durable materials

GROZA is made from silnylon fabric with a micro-ripstop weave and 6000 mm H2O water resistance. According to the manufacturer, this is twice as high as current market standards. The fabric is also resistant to wind and mechanical damage. Its strength comes from the micro-ripstop weave, which stops the fabric from tearing if it is punctured. The attachment points are laser-cut from Hypalon (a rubber and nylon laminate) and designed to work with trekking poles as a frame. 19 attachment points make precise tensioning easy and let you pitch the tarp in many ways, including an A-frame, a lean-to, a diamond, a shelter and a closed hammock tent. Raising one side on trekking poles creates a spacious canopy. Several GROZA tarps can be joined to make an outdoor pavilion for a group.

For extra strength, the attachment points are made from laser-cut Hypalon - a rubber and nylon laminate also used in military equipment and mountain pontoons. The new version of the tarp drops the polyamide tape sewn along the ridge and uses triple-stitched seams instead. This reduces the weight and improves function, as the tarp is easier to tension evenly.

Setup is simple thanks to the integrated guyline tensioning system. The suspension system is simple, can be operated with one hand and needs no knot-tying skills. Just anchor the guyline to the ground and pull it tight. The tensioner automatically locks the line and keeps it from loosening. The end loops have mini hooks, so the tarp attaches to trees without knots. 4 stakes are needed to pitch the tarp (not included).

Pitching the tarp for the conditions

Summer - warm, mild, no rain. Pitch the tarp high to increase the distance to the hammock and improve airflow. Stake out the tie-out loops wide so they don't block incoming air. The tarp will mainly protect you from falling leaves, needles or bits of bark.

Autumn - windy, possible rain. In these conditions, pitch the tarp lower, closer to the hammock. Stake out the tie-out loops wide so the wind slides over the tarp and doesn't press too hard on its sides.

Spring - no wind, possible snow. Pitch the tarp at the usual height, but stake the tie-out loops closer in so the sides form a steeper roof - less snow will settle on the tarp and it will carry much less load.

Mountain hikes / sudden weather changes Pitch the tarp as a tent using trekking poles. Stake the loops on one side directly to the ground - this reduces the effect of driving rain.
